From my Mercedes-Benz Museum visit in Stuttgart...
This simple looking car was an important car for Mercedes-Benz... it was their first unibody design.
It was introduced in 1953. The example you see here is a 1955 Model. It has
a 1767CC I4 good for about 52HP.

Also the first ever use of impact absorbing crumple zones in a production vehicle. Well, first intentional use, anyway.
